What can I do after soccer practices/games in order to diminish the pain in my legs?

I've recently joined soccer so my legs are out of shape which results to a nice amount of pain after heavy practices and games. What can I do to diminish the pain besides using painkillers? I would appreciate all answers. Thanks ya'll!

  1. I found when I worked out, my legs and arms would be so sore I couldn't move! What helped a lot (for me) was taking a nice hot shower, as the hot water helped soothe the muscles and really did make a difference in the pain the next day. So after your next game/practice, go home and take that hot shower (as hot as you can take it - don't burn yourself) and see if that helps. After a few weeks of working out continuously, you'll find the pain eases up.
